Likely body of famous Druid alpha male 21M found
7-19-2004
A Deb Guernsey of the Yellowstone Park wolf team has confirmed that a carcass and a radio collar, thought to be that of wolf 21M, the long time alpha male of the Druid Pack, has been found.Reports are that a horse party found the remains way back on Specimen Ridge Park personnel are going to take in horses soon this week to examine the remains. All indications are that the death was natural, but the exact cause may not be known due to the condition of the remains. Folks may recall that 42F, 21M's mate, was killed last winter by another wolf pack on Specimen Ridge, although the locations of the 2 deaths were not close.
21M was a very recognizable wolf. He was last seen on June 11.
This has been a big year of change for the Druids, first with the death of 21M's long time mate, and now the death of 21.
