Druid 375F killed by the Slough Creek Pack
U-Black's pack and "the new pack" reappear2-13-2005
Wolf 375F, a black yearling of the Druid Pack, was killed on Feb. 11 by the Slough Creek Pack. I have no further information yet. Slough Creek continues to roam where they want and the Druids move out of the way.
Other new information. . . The U-Black and her pack of 3 finally showed up. There are no collars, but they were recognizable in Crystal Creek. The pack consists of her, the gray alpha male, a black pup and a gray pup. She is a famous former Druid.
The "new pack" with the white alpha female showed up for the first time in quite a while (recall their mysterious first appearance last fall). They were in Round Prairie where they killed a bull elk. Four wolves were seen at one time, but with the comings and goings into the woods, it was clear the pack was larger than four.
There has not been as much interpack roaming and mating in the vicinity of the Lamar Valley this winter compared to the last two. Perhaps this is due to the increased competition between the Druids, Slough Creek, and other packs.
Farther to the east there is at least one new pair. Geode wolf 353F has been with a gray male from the Leopold Pack, and they might have gathered a few other wolves into their sphere.
