New Idaho wolves doing fine!

First tracking reports of the twenty new wolves
released in Central Idaho last month indicate
they are doing fine.

There has been some worry because warm weather
and rain-on-snow has caused many avalanches, and
the central Idaho wilderness is mostly steep
mountains and V-shaped canyons for miles and miles.

Meanwhile hostility from the most famous member
of the GOP Freshman class, Helen Chenoweth, escala-
ted last week on the floor of the U.S. House when
she gave a twenty-minute speech blasting wolves,
the government's war on the ranchers, and state-
supported environmental "religion."

Her announced opponent for the 1996 election,
Boise attorney, Dan Williams, a Democrat, said
she was a "national embarassment."
