I have received two email messages from the field indicating the
the new Druid Peak pack entered the Rose Creek Pack's territory
on June 18 near Slough Creek in Yellowstone Park. A fight ensued.
There is no certainty on this yet, but it appears that one or both
of the Druid Peak's alphas were injured.According to one report, seven of the Rose Creek pack with the alpha
male, no 8 leading, attacked four of Druid Pack. One alpha was driven
in the river trying to escape. It is not clear which alpha this was.Since the day of the fight, both Rose Creek alphas have been observed
as well as one of their yearlings. Druid yearlings have been observed,
too, but not the alphas.Readers of this report will recall, that a recent territorial battle
between the new Druid Peak Pack and the Crystal Creek Bench pack re-
sulted in the death of Crystal Bench's alpha male (no. 4) and the
possible injury of its alpha female (no. 5).
