Gros Ventre Range, Wyoming

They are very colorful and scenic, and most of the range was designated a Wilderness area by Congress in 1984. In the spring of 1999 they became the primary home of the Gros Ventre wolf pack, one of the two packs in or near Jackson Hole. Today the Gros Ventre pack has disappeared, but other wolves pass through and live in the range in the summer, including the new Flat Creek Pack which formed in 2004-5.
Remote Darwin Peak in the Gros Ventre Wilderness and the very headwaters of the Gros Ventre River. Great elk summer range! Copyright © Ralph Maughan |
