Hellroaring Slopes, Yellowstone National Park

Not an official name, "Hellroaring slopes" refers to the bottoms and slopes of
the Yellowstone River and Hellroaring Creek near Hellroaring Creek's
confluence with the Yellowstone River. The area is visible from viewpoints on
the Tower to Mammoth road, but the confluence area is a hike of about 3 miles
downhill from the road.
As of 2002-4, it was the core of the territory of the Geode Creek Pack, although
earlier it was dominated by the Druids, and before that, the Rose Creek Pack.
In late 2004 and 2005 the Leopold Pack, which had become the Park's largest,
began making more forays into Hellroaring slopes, temporarily pushing the Geodes
aside.
In 2005, the Leopolds came in and killed the Geode alpha male, and the Geode
Pack soon scattered. Then a group of wolves split from the Leopold Pack and joined with a few remaining Geodes to form the Hellroaring Pack, which has its first pups in 2006. They occupy basically the same territory as the previous packs.
