Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Jackson Hole is the big valley on the east side of the Tetons. Most of it is in Grand Teton National Park. The small city of Jackson and other spreading development occupies most of the far southern end of the valley.

The Teton Pack, which briefly grew to 24 wolves late in 2002, denned in a corner of Jackson Hole (at Elk Ranch Reservoir), but it spent most of its time in the mountains to the east of the valley.

Since the demise of the Teton Pack and the Gros Ventre Pack, new packs have emerged, using Jackson Hole in the winter and spring and the mountains to the east and northeast in the summer and fall.

The area probably contains more wealthy people per capita than any other place in America. Scenery is worth a lot more than the days of cattle ranching in the area.
