Mom's Ridge, Yellowstone National Park

Mom's Ridge is an informal name for the rough spine of granite to the west of Slough Creek that terminates at the lower Lamar River.

The name arose from the fact that the den site of famous wolves   9F and 18F of the old Rose Creek Pack, were near the base of this  ridge.

In the winter of 2003-4, Mom's Ridge became an area of intense wolf pack competition, with as many a four packs, plus additional pairs of wolves using the area.

My on-the-ground survey of the area in April 2004 showed an amazing number of ungulate bones scattered about.
