Copyright © Ralph Maughan Late afternoon above Falls Creek. Sapphire Range. The Bitterroot Range is a massive range along the Idaho-Montana border. The Bitterroot Valley separates it from the lower and less known Sapphire Range on the Valley's east side. The Sapphire Range is not as wild, but it has a
large area with a lot of backcountry, and portions with a sparse road system.
Some parts have been heavily logged.
