The West Slope of the Tetons from Idaho farmland The east slope of the Tetons is the world famous side of the
rugged mountain range seen from Grand Teton National Park. The more gentle West Slope faces Idaho and is composed of
generally flat beds of limestone instead of granite. To east of the Tetons lies
Jackson Hole. Much of the West Slope is protected by the Jedediah Smith
Wilderness area.
To the west of the West Slope is the Teton Basin, formerly
mostly farmland, but now giving way to uncontrolled sub-divisions.
