Last January I reported that a wolf had been caught in a coyote trap near Stevensville, Montana in the foothills of the Bitteroot Mountains. This wolf was the male half of what has become known as the Bass Creek pair. The pair, origin unknown, now have seven pups. Their location is a concern because despite movies like a River Runs Throught It, the reality is Montana's Bitterroot Valley increasingly seems like one big subdivision.
