Bears are the leading cause of death of Yellowstone Park elk calves

9-29-2005

We have reported this story briefly a number of times -- the leading cause of death of elk calves on the northern range of Yellowstone Park, is bears, especially grizzly bears, not wolves.

Mike Stark of the Billings Gazette has put the results of this on-going elk calf mortality study into a nice article. I hope the anti-wolf folks and politicians will take heed now that it is in the printed media.
