Bison Start to Leave Yellowstone?
It's not over till it's over. Some folks think the mild winter has saved the Yellowstone bison, but there is a report that bison have begun to leave Yellowstone to the west as they often do in April.
Now, they may be in imminent danger of being captured by Montana Governor Racicot's Department of Livestock which will kill or capture them to give them a sloppy test for brucellosis (and then kill those that test positive for this bacteria that never has been transmitted to cows from bison in the area). Well, in fact, there are no cows in the area.
Let's thank the Buffalo Field Campaign volunteers who have stayed all winter and into the spring. Hopefully they will deter or foil the governor's bison killers.
