Back in November 1996 I knew that the State of Montana; the federal agency, APHIS; the National Park Service; and the U.S. Forest Service had worked out an "interim" settlement on the growing dispute over bison, cattle, and rarely-transmitted disease, brucellosis. Little did I know what would happen on the ground once winter came and the "settlement" went into effect. The reports below were (and are) posted as things happened, and with few modifications, provide a cyber-record of the slaughter, the controversy; and, hopefully a resolution of the wildlife catastrophe.. . .
