CITIZEN'S BISON ALTERNATIVE:

Hunting is a legitimate technique in wildlife management, but we would only support a buffalo hunt AFTER the following conditions are met:

1. Buffalo exiting Yellowstone National Park into Montana must be re-classified as a wild game species with management under the SOLE direction and discretion of the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. The Montana Department of Livestock will have NO role in the management of these buffalo.

2. Buffalo exiting Yellowstone National Park will be treated and managed like any other wildlife. They will be allowed unfettered access to public lands in Montana year round and to private lands with owner permission.

3. Additional habitat for the buffalo must be designated.

4. Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks must take a pro-active stand in defending the rights of Yellowstone buffalo as a wild species and should cease their participation as one of the five agencies which continues to mistreat our wild buffalo.
