Two wolf new packs named in
Yellowstone -- Cougar Creek Pack and Tower Pack
August. 9, 2001
Two groups of wolves in Yellowstone have been official given names as packs.
The group of 5 adult wolves that split off of the Rose Creek Pack some time ago has been officially renamed the Tower Pack, despite the fact that they have not produced any pups.
Rose Creek disperser 151F and her gray mate have produced 3 pups in the Madison Valley portion of Yellowstone Park. The pups include one gray and two black. This is a little traveled part of the Park, but it is only about 5-10 miles from West Yellowstone.
In other news, yet another wolf has just been killed on U.S. 191. The matter is under investigation, so no official details are available. My guess is it is one of the Chief Joseph Pack. That pack's pup count for the year 2001 has just been upped to seven pups.
