Did you know that it costs a public lands rancher $1.35 a month to graze a cow or a cow and a calf on your public land? Low grazing fees were set by Congress in 1976 and since then have actually been lowered down to the present $1.35. One explanation for this disparity between public land fees and private land (which may cost $15 a month for a cow) is that public land ranchers have to tolerate recreationists disturbing their cattle and predators like wolves and coyotes eating them.

Why then are we killing wolves that eat a few cow calves or sheep (which graze for just 27 cents a month)?

Another question, given these trivial grazing fees, why has Congress ordered the Forest Service and BLM to start charging people from $3 to $5 dollars a day just to park and hike on many public land trails?

You might want to write to your members of Congress and ask.
