Two members of New Idaho wolf Pack illegally shot

11-21-2003

The Hemlock Ridge Pack is a new Idaho wolf pack this year. Located in north central Idaho not far from the new Eldorado Pack, near Pierce, two members have been illegally shot according the to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

Fortunately there were 8 members of the pack. Wolf B152F and an uncollared male were shot. The pack probably has enough members to survive and reproduce next year. Hunters found and reported the dead wolves to the government on Nov. 16.  One carcass was found  along an ATV trail, and one along a road in the Brown's Creek/Space Creek area. B152F was located alive on by aircraft on Nov. 13, so the criminal act took place between the 13th and the 16th.

USFWS and Defenders of Wildlife are offering rewards of $5,000 per wolf for information leading to an arrest in the case. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service law enforcement officials ask that anyone with information about this case please contact them at (208) 378-5333. Callers may request to remain anonymous.
