Map of the Idaho wolf packs

Below is a map of the approximate territories for the last six months of the known Idaho wolf packs as of late Novemberf 2000.  It does not have the packs' range for entire period of each pack's existence. Please note that the map covers about 15-million acres -- much larger than the 2.2-million acre Yellowstone National Park. The yellow areas are designated units of the National Wilderness Preservation system in Idaho and (unnamed) in Montana. The silver area represents land that is mostly national forest. Some of non-wilderness national forest area is heavily developed for timber and some is roadless de facto wilderness. The only roads shown are highways.

This map includes all of the known 2000 packs, with their official names with the exception of the newly discovered cross-state pack in the West Fork of the Bitterroot River.
