Kelly Creek Pack kills 4 lion tracking hounds on the chase

3-14-99

Idaho's Kelly Creek Pack made short work of four lion tracking hounds who were on the chase in Kelly Creek in north Central Idaho. The pack killed three Walker and one Blue Tick hound when they chased a lion into the pack's territory.

This is the third such incident in Idaho. Wolves don't like dogs, especially those aggressively enter a pack's domain. The condition the owner found his dead dogs in should not suprise anyone (sounds like the way the Druid Peak Pack deals with intruding wolves).

I'm amazed the owner didn't know there were wolves in Kelly Creek, well known home to the Kelly Creek pack. I would urge people to check my web page, including my Idaho wolf map so they know where to expect wolves.

I'm not against lion hunting. These folks help conserve the lion population. They are the only ones speaking out against the Idaho Fish and Game Commission's decision to nearly eliminate the lion population of SE Idaho. Lion tracking is, however, and should be, a somewhat risky sport. However, it would be nice if someone donated Mr. Turcott some new dogs in order to build good will.

Here is the story from the Lewiston (Idaho) Morning Tribune.
