By "native wolf," I mean a wolf that migrated from Montana or Canada into Idaho on its own, not the progeny of wolves that somehow hid out and survived the slaughter of wolves from 1900 into the 1940s. Because this wolf has been with no. 36F for over a year, it is likely not part of the reintroduction.  It is probably closely related to the wolves brought down from Canada in 1995. However. It, or its parents or grandparents, just came on their own.

Very soon we will see wolves pairing that have no collars. These will mostly be dispersers from existing packs of reintroduced wolves, but how will anyone tell?  Where are all the uncollared surviving remnants of the Landmark Pack.  Where are the three uncollared members of that pack which dispersed last autumn?
