Nez Perce Pack Returns to Yellowstone
2-11-2003
I don't have many details yet, but last weekend the Nez Perce Pack left the vicinity of the National Elk Refuge and returned to Yellowstone Park. Meanwhile the Teton Pack, or part of it, has been on and near the Refuge. There are few elk on the Refuge due to the warm, mild Winter. Elk are spread from the Refuge way to the north, on the foothills and up the Gros Ventre. There have been wolf kills of elk near Kelly.
Meanwhile wolf reports from the vicinity of Lander, Wyoming have pretty much ended. Nothing more was ever confirmed by Mike Jeminez except that he saw two pairs of wolf tracks. Efforts to snare wolves in the vicinity were not successful.
The reality on the ground seems light years away from the heat in the Wyoming legislature and county commissions of Fremont and Sublette County.
