Sheep Mountain Wolf Pack Rendezvous Site has cattle put in its midst.

7-4-99 updated 7-29

The Sheep Mountain Pack, formerly Chief Joseph no. 2, which presently consists of former Rose Creek wolf no. 16F and five other adult or sub-adult wolves and at least six pups, has its rendezvous site near a cattle grazing pasture to which cattle have just been moved.   How well will the two coexist?

Scott McMillion has an interesting story on the pack in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle. Wolf wranglers hope piece of wolf heaven can be cow heaven, too

Folks may remember that no. 16F has had two previous litters by herself.  She lost the first litter and had success with the second. At least one adult wolf also joined the pack.

The latest news is that the pack and the cattle are coexisting. Members of the wolf recovery team have interposed themselves between the cattle and the wolves, and the wolves have not attacked the cattle. The one time the wolves walked through the cattle, a range rider chased the wolves away.
