Alert from the National Parks and Conservation Association. Oct. 20, 2000.

STOP SNOWMOBILE RIDER! In the final moments of the congressional session, Senators who favor virtually unrestricted snowmobile recreation in our national parks are pushing language that would force snowmobile use to be allowed in ALL parks! The White House is negotiating on the final spending bills this week and MUST NOT accept this rider. Click on this alert to send your message to the President and his Administration, urging them to reject legislation which allows for snowmobile use in our national parks. TAKE ACTION! Please contact the White House TODAY
and tell them to reject this attack on national parks.

Also, it is critical that minority leader Senator Tom Daschle (D-SD) hears from you. Insist that he stand firm against ANY snowmobile riders, no matter how "harmless" they may appear on the surface. You can send an electronic letter by going to www.npca.org/take_action/action_alerts/. Please - pass this alert on to as many friends as you can. For more information, contact tjewett@npca.org.
