Sundles charged!

Oct. 19, 2005, updated 10-20

Tim Sundles, the man who claimed he and his wife were about to be attacked by a wolf in the Frank Church Wilderness in 2001, has been charged with trying to poison wolves, according to reports on KBCI 2 in Boise, Idaho.
Although the allegations of a wolf attack were never proven, he did indeed shoot the alpha male of the Twin Peaks Pack. Since then the pack has persisted, but has been nearly untrackable in its wilderness abode.

"How to poison wolves" has long been a feature of Sundles' website, and there was speculation about him when a number of dogs were poisoned in central Idaho two winters ago using the method he described. Many more dogs were poisoned in Wyoming with similar baits. Sundles was not charged under the endangered species act. He was charged with using a pesticide on federal land without a license. The method his web site advocated was to use Temik, a pesticide with no registered uses for poisoning mammals.

Spreading poison without a license is illegal regardless of the intended species.

Sundles, himself, reported several days ago he was going to be charged. He told a web board that he wanted the folks there to hear it first.
