Photos of the Targhee National Forest road closures-
Here are examples of what the big controversy is about.

Typical Targhee road closure. The "road closed" signs and locked gates
have been up for a long time, but the vehicles just drove around the gates.
The berm can't be easily driven around, and if they do, the road beyond has
been plowed with logs strewn across it, plus more berms. The off-road
vehicle people say this is an example of the Forest Service tearing up
and ruining the environment. Maybe it is an example of the Targhee National
Forest finally doing a job well.

Off road vehicle protestors maintain that lots of great recreational country
has been locked up for the bears and other wildlife. The photo is typical
Island Park, Idaho, Targhee National Forest -- flat-to rolling-country of
regenerating clearcuts of lodgepole pine.
