Finally some news on the shooting of the White Wolf, favorite of many Yellowstone wolf watchers! According to Assistant U.S. Attorney John Barksdale, Darwin Leroy Emmett, "a Cody area man" [I heard from Crandall], will be arraigned on July 13 for illegal shooting wolf no. 39F.
As I reported some time ago the suspect, whose name had not been revealed at that time, claimed he thought he was shooting a coyote. Barksdale was quoted in the "Billings Gazette" saying they would not automatically accept the explanation given by Emmett.
My comment is this, in Wyoming if you illegally shoot a bighorn sheep and say you thought it was a mule deer, you will receive a hefty fine.
I have a cap with a slogan that reads: "Gun Control: being sure of your target."
