More . . . . Borah Peak roadless area, page 3The Lost River Range is in a rain shadow. Snowpack is usually light in most winters as some of these photos show, yet there are often snow patches on Mt. Borah even in the summer, as the bottom photo taken in early August shows.

Many of the photos of the bold Lost River front were carefully placed to avoid the maze of telephone poles and powerlines thoughtless institutions have run across the broad alluvial fans that spill down from the steep west-facing canyons. If the photo was about 40 pixels lower, a powerline would be in view.
