The Bridger Range is an abrupt, rugged, but narrow range that begins at Bozeman Pass on the south and extends northward for about 25 miles. The rapidly growing city of Bozeman lies to its southwest. A lesser mountain range, the Bangtails, lies immediately to its southeast as does the town of Livingston at a greater distance.

The Bridger Range is regarded as a key biological corridor leading from the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem to the mountains and wilderness country to the north, e.g., the Glacier National Park/Bob Marshall Wilderness complex.
