The National Elk Refuge is mostly just scenic open space in the summer, but in the winter it has from 7 to 12-thousand elk.  They are fed alfalfa pellets. The refuge is directly north of the small city of Jackson. It is just SE of Grand Teton National Park, which is in the distance.
