The South Fork of the Shoshone River begins at Shoshone Pass, at the southern end of the Washakie Wilderness, and runs northward for about 25 miles through a deep wilderness canyon. Eventually it opens into the South Fork valley at the wilderness boundary and flows northward another 20 miles into Buffalo Bill Reservoir, a few miles from Cody, Wyoming. It looks a bit like the southwest United States, doesn't it?
