The Wyoming Range

The Wyoming Range is probably the least known of the major ranges in Wyoming. It begins about 20 miles south of Jackson near Hoback Junction and runs southward for about sixty miles, paralleling the Salt River Range with which it eventually merges to become the Commissary Ridge.

The Wyoming Range has an abrupt west side and a gradual east side. It is separated from the Salt River Range by the long and narrow stream valley of the Gray's River.

The area is notable for its large elk population, its colorful ten-to-eleven-
thousand foot peaks, and incredible wildflower displays in late July.
