Yellowstone wolf locations late February 1999
2-26-99
Here are the results of the tracking flight February 25, 1999. The data was provided by Deb Guernsey of the Yellowstone Wolf Team. Thanks!
I have added a few comments.
Crystal Creek Pack - near Pelican Valley
Leopold Pack - near Blacktail Deer Creek; 1 female alone near Mtn Everts. This the big mountain just northeast of Mammoth Hot Springs.
Druid Peak Pack - near Crystal Creek (Lamar Valley)
Rose Creek Pack - near Hellroaring Creek; 1 male near Prospect Peak with unknown black wolf. Prospect Peak is a high point on the Blacktail Deer Plateau.
Chief Joseph I - near Turkey Pen Peak (by Mt. Everts)
Chief Joeseph II - near Dome Mountain. Dome Mountain is the massive mountain about 15 miles north of Yellowstone. Its west shoulder forms the east wall of Yankee Jim Canyon (on the Yellowstone River). The Montana Dailey Lake game range is just to its north.
Soda Butte Pack - Snake River, a few miles north of the south entrance of Yellowstone Park; 1 adult male not with pack (#043M). So the pack keeps wandering all over the place and shrinking in size.
Nez Perce Pack - Nez Perce Creek by Magpie Creek
Jackson Trio - near the Nation Elk Refuge by Flat Creek. I had email this morning reporting more mating activity.
Teton Duo - near Spread Creek (near the NE corner of Grand Teton National Park).
Sunlight Pair - no report.
Email addresses for members
of Congress, the media, and other officials.
